Risks Associated with Using Shockvertising

 

- Loss of credability

 

- Offensive to many people 

        -These people many OR may not be in your target market

 

- Consumers see over 3000 forms of advertising per day on average. Consumers are becoming desensitized to even the most shocking ads

 

- Groups such as "1 Million Moms" are gaining followers to protect the youth against shocking, unconventional, and blatently truthful ads

 

- It is used to "cut the clutter" and get right to the point of an issue such as poverty or domestic abuse.             -The graphic images connected to these issues may trigger backlash towards the company resulting          in loss of customers. 

 

- The fashion industry is recieving this backlash due to the overuse of sex, violence, and drugs in recent advertising campaigns
